Patient-Centered Research

HEORStrategies experts conduct patient-centered research to help ensure that the patient voice is reflected in assessments of healthcare value:

  • Patient journey studies: We design and conduct research on patients’ journey to diagnosis and treatment. These studies support the value proposition for emerging therapies for rare disease and indications where the journey to diagnosis and treatment has not been characterized.
  • Caregiver burden: We design and conduct studies of the caregiver burden. We characterize the impact of caring for a chronically ill or disabled person on caregiver strain, economics, and quality of life. We work with our clients to identify the optimal approach to measuring caregiver burden. Our studies may for example, analyze data collected during a clinical trial or they may evaluate data collected using qualitative methods (e.g., survey, interview, focus group).
  • Survey development and implementation: We develop and implement surveys to investigate patient and provider treatment preferences as well as patients’ and caregivers’ experiences of illness and illness burden.
